Kick-Off Meeting, Limassol, Cyprus, 29th-30th of November 2012
The first SLIC meeting was held on the beautiful island of Cyprus. In the early evening we visited one of the Cypriot youth centres, where members of the youth centre gave a presentation regarding the centre and its activities. The president of the youth centre and the Mayor gave a tour of the village to contextualise the work of the youth club.
We spent two days clarifying and planning the project to improve our knowledge and experiences of adult learning in communities, as adult educators. We agreed we would produce:
– A SLIC website
– Facebook page
– 5 newsletters the next
– 2 strategic discussion papers
– Publicity and marketing materials
– Evaluations of the meetings and the work of the partnership
The meetings were extremely productive though we did have time for a partnership meal in a traditional Cypriot taverna with local cuisine. Looking forward to the next meeting in Greece where we can get into the detail of the project and build stronger relationships with the partners.
